About Chalet Bonnevie ...
The owners of Chalet Bonnevie spent a long time searching for their perfect Alpine home, before falling in love with this traditional property in Les Villards-sur-Thônes. They have since renovated it and redecorated to a high standard, using neutral tones and unique decorative touches to get it just the way they want it.
You'll love it too, with its stunning wraparound balcony and decking, peaceful position just 3km from Villard sur Thones, and breathtaking views across the valley to the mountains beyond.
Villard-sur-Thônes is half way between La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand, so you're in a perfect position to enjoy everything the area has to offer, whatever the time of year. Cyclists and skiers alike will appreciate the roomy secure kit room.
The property ...
Two families or a group of friends will find Chalet Bonnevie their ideal choice for a 4 star mountain holiday.
Sleeping eight people in two double and two twin bedrooms, there are also two stylish and spacious bathrooms. One of the twin bedrooms is on the lower ground floor, where there is also a shower room and a games room with a sofa, making this floor a great choice for teenagers who like their own space. There's also a useful ski store on this floor and laundry.
The comfortable living area on the ground floor has a large corner sofa, leather chairs and a large dining table - the perfect place to come together for cosy evenings around the log burner. Wifi and internet access makes it easy to keep in touch with home and check what's on in the La Clusaz area.
On the first floor you'll find another twin bedroom and two double rooms, one of which has fabulous views from the balcony. There's also a bathroom and shower on this floor.
The lovely garden comes into its own in the summer months, when you'll want to eat outside on the huge sunny deck, or perhaps soak your cares away in the glorious hot tub.
About the area ...
You couldn’t chose a more perfect location to make the most of the La Clusaz slopes. Halfway between La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand ski resorts, you can ski somewhere new every day.
Your Aravis ski pass also covers the Manigod area, giving you 220km of pistes of varying levels to explore, as well as extensive off-piste action. Cross-country skiers will discover trails from St-Jean-de-Sixt - pick up a map from the village tourist office.
Non-skiers are well catered for too, and can go ice skating or swimming in La Clusaz, where the heated indoor and outdoor pools are open all year round, or try snowshoeing, sledging, dog-sledding and sleigh rides.
Get back to Chalet Bonnevie in time to soothe aching limbs in the hot tub under the night sky - no better end to the day!
In the summer, it won't be easy to tear yourself away from the idyllic garden, hot tub and decking at Chalet Bonnevie, but your efforts will be well rewarded!
There's so much to see and do in the La Clusaz area in the summer. St-Jean-de-Sixt is one of the few places where you can try Bun-J ride, a cross between ski jumping and bungee jumping!
Other more traditional pastimes are available too - marked footpaths crisscross the mountains, many starting from the village, or you can explore by mountain bike or on horseback.
There are swimming pool complexes in Le Grand Bornand, La Clusaz and Thônes, but if you're looking for something a little more challenging, there's a climbing school, via ferrata routes, a tree-top adventure park, canyoning, white-water rafting and paragliding all nearby.
The owners love cycling and skiing themselves; guests will appreciate the secure kit room with tools, bike stands etc. With impressive cycle route maps from the local Tourist Office, and a local company who will deliver/ collect bikes, sports fans will love Chalet Bonnevie.
If you'd like to explore the wonderful scenery and activities of the French Alps, Chalet Bonnevie is a great choice. Check your holiday dates against our calendar, and if they are free, we will be happy to hold them for you for 24 hours while you make your plans. But don't leave it any longer - this chalet is a popular choice with our guests!

From the Owner
We fell in love the the area straight away, so friendly and so beautiful, everything we had wanted...
“From the first time we skied in France we loved it, so much so that we decided to look for a place of our own as a base to ski.
"We first bought an apartment in Meribel in 1999, and enjoyed its skiing for 7 years with our three sons. We had a lovely time there, but it lacked a certain something and we were not exactly sure what. That's when we started to look for our own chalet.
"We looked in many ski areas, until finally while driving around Annecy in 2006, we visited La Clusaz, and bingo! We fell in love with the area straight away, so friendly and so beautiful, everything we had wanted. We viewed many chalets but none were what we had wanted. So we stayed in the area for a few days and we eventually found our Chalet Bonnevie. A lot of work was needed but we could see in our minds eye as to what we could do with it.
"Our plan was to give it character and elegance, be cosy, romantic, homely and very "mountainy"! And I think we have achieved that.
We have spent many wonderful times here with family and friends. It is to us the most beautiful place to be, the views are fantastic. One special experience is to be relaxing in the Jacuzzi at night, winter or summer, looking up at the stars with a drink in your hand.......magic!
After a long day in the snow during winter or hillwalking and cycling during the summer, the comfortable beds are also so welcoming and restful. When they can, our sons still come back to ski with us or with their friends.
"We have now decided to let out Chalet Bonnevie and share our enjoyment with others, and hope they will relax and enjoy it charms.” Eamonn & Clare MURPHY
Why La Clusaz?
Less than an hour from Geneva, La Clusaz offers Alpine action all year round. A traditional farming village, it not only offers great skiing and superb summer activities, but also a real community feel, whenever you visit. Great restaurants, bars and nightlife combine with local markets, festivals and traditions to give you the best of all worlds.
“Perfect alpine get-away !”
We had a really lovely family holiday at Chalet Bonnevie. The chalet was beautiful and very cosy and welcoming; perfect for an alpine get away! The hot tub with its spectacular view was a particular delight! The manager, Janelle, was really lovely also - very responsive and helpful.

“We will come back!”
We will come back!
This is our third visit to this chalet, which is always lovely! We will probably come back again next year. We loved the amenities, being close to nature, having the slopes nearby, the practicality of the chalet and the cosy atmosphere. The wonderful countryside and being so close to Annecy are real bonuses.

“A nice chalet”
We loved the location, the spa and the deck.
The main bathroom is gorgeous. And the kitchen is very well equipped.
We really enjoyed the quietness, and the outdoor spaces in the surroundings.

“A great Christmas”
We have had a great Christmas in the chalet. We were a group of 4 adults and 4 children and the chalet was the perfect size for us. Everything necessary was provided and we didn't feel like something is missing.
We all enjoyed the Jacuzzi and the snow in the garden. It was great that someone took care of the private road and the driveway when it was snowing.
Overall it was a great holiday and we definitely would go back if the opportunity arise.
Dimitar S. - 23/12/2017
Great location for walks, very peaceful neighborhood. We loved the hot tub and the whole master bathroom.
Alex E. - 09/09/2017
“The best chalet”
We rented Chalet Bonnevie last summer for 4 weeks and returned this summer for 5 weeks. It is the best chalet we've rented in the Aravis. The location, facilities, secure gardens, privacy, peace and quiet and stunning views make it a fabulous place to stay.
Pamela & James M. - 15/07/2017
Only one week in this paradise in France is way too short. We will never forget this beautiful chalet in the lovely mountains.
As ever the Jacuzzi is fabulous just as the view. There is a lot to see and to do in the area.
So we hope to go back to this chalet one days.
Annelieke V. - 01/07/2017
“Comfort, snow and medals”
We spent 15 days at your charming chalet. It was very comfortable, and everything was good quality (the bed linen, the sofa, the boot-warmer, the clothes dryer). The decor inside and out had been done thoughtfully and tastefully and it was lovely to sit down at a well-presented table for a family meal. The bedrooms are cosy and practical, with everything we needed, including a radio alarm. The jacuzzi on the terrace in the snow made for some very lovely moments. My son loved the games console with lots of games. Thanks to Janelle for being so helpful during our stay. We also thank you for having ordered the snow for our stay, without which the children would not have won their medals!
Amandine F. - 07/01/2017
“We had a truly wonderful week here at the end of August.”
The chalet was beautiful, spacious and comfortable and everything had been thought about. The views from the chalet were breathtaking and being so peaceful our children were able to sleep late and treat us to some lie-ins. We had many great trips out including swimming and crazy golf in La Clusaz, Vitam water park, a trip up the Beauregard cable car and a fantastic meal in L'Outa. For our first family holiday with two young kids, it ticked all the boxes and we are already planning on brushing up on our French and returning next year. Thank you for everything!

“The best Chalet we've ever rented!”
We've been staying in this area for over 16 years and chalet Bonnevie is the best Chalet we've ever rented. The beds are very comfortable and the chalet is very homely and well stocked with everything you need. The enclosed garden is great for the dogs and we really enjoyed the hot tub. We'll definitely be returning to Chalet Bonnevie. Thank you Eamonn and Clare.
Pamela J. - 30/07/2016
“The chalet is comfortable and the view is amazing”
We had a really lovely week at the chalet. We came with three generations of the family and everyone enjoyed their holiday.
Rozita F. - 27/02/2016
“Just as described”
We had an excellent stay at Chalet Bonnevie. Everything was just as described. However, snow chains are a must as when it snows, you will need them to get up the hill!
Marie-Laure P. - 06/02/2016
“A great holiday”
We loved the decor, the jacuzzi, the warmth from the stove, as well as the lovely bathrooms. The chalet is close to La Clusaz and several shops are available in the area.

“Can't wait to return”
We've had a fabulous time in fantastic surroundings. The chalet is just beautiful, practical, comfortable and in a great location.
Annecy lake was brilliant as was the walking, white water rafting, paragliding and riding in the national park. Thank you for letting us stay in your chalet, we can't wait to return!!!
Chris W. - 25/07/2015
“We all loved chalet Bonnevie!”
The home is perfect, everything we could wish for on our family holiday. The area is fantastic with such a relaxing and stunning setting but yet so close to all activities and amenities. Would love to return and highly recommend to our friends .
Tanya S. - 04/04/2015
“Thank you for a wonderful stay!”
Your Chalet is as beautiful as the surrounding scenery.
Emma P. - 28/03/2015
“A marvellous family holiday. ”
The chalet is tastefully decorated, in a superb setting and the jacuzzi is great after a day's skiing. The whole family loved the chalet. The beautiful scenery is unrivalled and the village of St Jean de Sixt is lovely.
Christine C. - 21/02/2015
“So much better than typical French resorts”
Great decor, great ambiance and perfect size for our group. It felt like being in "real villages", so much better than typical French resorts. Oh, and loved the main bathroom!
Nacho V. - 14/02/2015
“A very well managed chalet.”
Very pleasant - nothing was missing. It's worth noting that you need a car. We really loved the peace and the forest walks.
Carole W. - 07/02/2015
“Good views, splendid scenery, close to winter sports”
Warm and cosy, excellent log burner, comfortable beds, good bathrooms. We enjoyed the chef coming to the chalet to cook a delicious meal for us.
Alyson D. - 24/01/2015
“Thank you so much for a great stay! ”
We had a very enjoyable and relaxing week at chalet Bonnevie. Everything was pretty much perfect, and exceeded what we had hoped for. We will definitely look to come back again - in the winter next time to try the ski areas!
Chris S. - 30/08/2014
“The property had everything we needed”
Good situation (beautiful mountains and close to the lake) and comfortably furnished. The decking and hot tub were a real plus.
Simon B. - 26/07/2014
“We will always have marvellous memories of our holiday. ”
Thank you to the owners for the lovely chalet, to the OVO team for its fantastic site and perfect organisation and to the manager Pierre, who welcomed us warmly and was always there when we needed him, throughout our stay. We appreciated the setting, the decking, the warm cosy interior, the outside furniture (not plastic!), the linen, the beautiful crockery, the pretty upstairs bathroom with its view of the pine trees from the shower (!), and the tidy way things were organised (particularly in the garage). In the winter, it must be the perfect place after a day on the slopes…
We particularly liked the village of Saint Jean de Sixt, its great bakery (des Aravis), and of course La Clusaz, the walking trails and our boat trip on Lake Annecy.
Catherine M. - 19/07/2014
“Pretty chalet, very well equipped”
We enjoyed its big sunny terrace facing south with a jacuzzi, and the enclosed garden, very safe for the kids. We can only imagine how nice it would be to take long walks in the beautiful surroundings during the summer. Adults, teenagers and children all loved it here. The place has only one problem: it's so nice we didn't want to leave anymore!
Elise J. - 01/03/2014
“A great Christmas with family and friends”
Splendid chalet, and our dogs loved playing in the Christmas snow! We had a warm and comfortable stay and recommend it to anyone. Big thanks to Pierre for his kindness.

“All we had hoped and more”
We have all had a lovely weeks holiday at Chalet Bonnevie! It was all we had hoped and more. We love the location, the facilities, and the hot tub was a welcome bonus. Our trips to Annecy, Chamonix, Thônes and La Clusaz were much enjoyed. It has been a great holiday for us all and may well be back again in the future. The chalet manager Pierre has been so helpful during our stay.
Michael G. - 17/08/2013
“Feeling at home...only better!”
Wonderful stay in this great chalet. Nothing bad to say about it: the view is stunning and the hot tub is a genius addition to the place. We felt at home and had a great time!
Jean-Yves F. - 10/08/2013
“We will come back one day!”
The chalet was the perfect home away from home. A very warm, comfortable home for our family to gather and enjoy each other but still have our space when needed.
Haseley F. - 03/08/2013
“It was ideal!”
We stayed here during half term as a family group of 3 generations. The chalet was quite secluded and very peacefully located but with only a short drive to get supplies (5 mins) and get to the ski resorts (15 mins) it was ideal. The hot tub on the balcony was a perfect way to enjoy the scenery and because we weren't in resort it was very private. The chalet itself was very clean and well presented with some great luxury touches. It was always lovely and warm and had a lovely homely feeling. We felt very lucky to have stayed there and might even return to try it out in the Summer months!
Rebecca S. - 16/02/2013
“The snow was fab!”
We have had a lovely few days away from the norm, it's been great. The snow has been fab.....it's different skiing when you can't tell the powder on piste and off piste! The chalet is really a home away from home with all the comforts heaving been thought of. We went to La Ferme on the last night.....it is a great experience.
Scallan F. - 15/12/2012
“We started planning for our next stay on day 2!”
Chalet Bonnvie is situated in one of the most peaceful, untouched spots of the Thônes/La Clusaz valley. It is the perfect blend of a cosy alpine chalet and a luxury holiday home. During the day we had all the fun of the local amenities and attractions only a few minutes away by car, and then in the evenings we could relax in the jacuzzi and enjoy the beautiful mountain and forest scenery. We're going back in 2013 - Thank you Clare and Eamon!
Anita T. - 20/11/2012
“A fantastic experience”
We very much enjoyed our stay which was to celebrate my 60th Birtday. We had our older son and his wife and our younger son and two of our lifelong friends with us. We had lovely meals around the dining table which we enjoyed cooking in the well appointed kitchen. We thoroughly enjoyed the loungers on the deck area and the hot tub and the wonderful view. As a whole group we stargazed late one night, lying on the loungers and deck chairs. It was a fantastic experience. I wanted to take the main bathroom home with me as I loved having a shower while looking at the pines through the sky light. This has been a most memorable holiday and we hope to return.
Margaret W. - 05/09/2012
We found the perfect place for our family reunion at Chalet Bonnevie: well-appointed,
quietly situated yet convenient for nearby towns and villages and with lovely views from
the spacious deck. The kids loved the hot-tub!

“What a great way to spend New Years!”
Just a wonderful moment, outside in a hot tub in the snow , then next to the wood stove inside with friends. We cooked and baked a lot in the kitchen, and went snow shoeing on a beautiful forest walk just above the chalet. The chalet itself is high-spec - we don't think the website does it justice. We're thinking of making this an annual way to spend New Years with friends. Thank you. We loved our time there! A&P, T, T and D.

Thank you so much for allowing us the use of your gorgeous chalet, it's beautiful!
We had a fantastic five days and although there wasn't much snow around the chalet there was plenty in Le Grand Bornand and La Clusaz. After three days of great skiing we decided to spend our last day learning to snowboard... Stephen was a great teacher! We're all going home very happy and probably bruised! It was a great trip! Thank you so much again.

“the WOW factor”
Fantastic location, fantastic chalet, fantastic region and pistes... A great find for nature lovers and adrenaline junkies. We appreciated the warm welcome from the local manager who answered patiently all our questions in broken French!!! Lots to explore around here, a week just wasn't enough! Merci!!!
Frank T. - 04/12/2010
“Tradition meets comfort”
Superb place to unwind in the middle of the mountains! Lovely wooden feel to the chalet, very traditional although completed with all the modern comfort. There is even a high debit internet connexion, well done! The region is so beautiful and we haven't explored a tenth of it yet. We'll have to come back for more. Summer would be great for the jacuzzi!
Jay J. - 20/11/2010
“Thumbs up! ”
Lovely place, you did a great job on the property compared to our previous experiences in France!!! The weather wasn't on our side so we could really appreciate the comfort and cosiness of the chalet. Kitchen was great to prepare the meals, nothing was missing. Lovely evening spent enjoying the calm and silence of the mountains. Cheers for everything!
Steve J. - 13/11/2010
We were looking for a nice retreat to get away from it all and we found it! Very relaxing place in lovely natural surroundings. Chalet was all modern but with a beautiful traditional feel. Village nearby and bigger towns like La Clusaz only a short drive away. Don't hesitate to book it, you won't be disappointed!
Jane E. - 23/10/2010
Thanks for this lovely chalet, the family and friends loved it. Very cosy and nicely done, great taste for a luxurious overall feel. Good location as well with little village nearby (fresh bread in the morning!) and short distance from La Clusaz and Grand Bornand. Seriously thinking about renting it later this winter!
Anton P. - 09/10/2010
“Our best family holiday ever!”
We stayed at the "Chalet Bonnevie" for two weeks. Up to now we had always favoured the typical beach holiday and this was our first venture with summer in the Alps and, boy! was it a fantastic revelation! The climate is so much more condusive to a family holiday. We found the chalet to be in an ideal location, with an abundance of facilities and ammenities nearby. We have so many lovely memories of swimming and boating in Lake Annecy, visiting the glaciers in Chamonix (Mt Blanc), and the pool complex in nearby "Thones" was a real find. The chalet itself is superb. It has a traditional feel but with all the mod-cons, it is pure luxury and certainly has that X-factor that ensures you unwind and relax. All of the local villages and towns have an array of restaurants and, on the afternoon we arrived, the tiny take-away pizza shop in St Jean de Sixt ( 5 min drive) proved a big hit with weary travellers (The Patisserie next door is regarded as the best in this region). We had breakfast most mornings on the deck and also barbecued there on several evenings. I would highly recommend the chalet and location without hesitation and as a family we look forward to doing it all again.
