Chalet Alyssum

The property ...

Chalet Alyssum sleeps 13 people (12 adults) in six bedrooms. You’ll find three double bedrooms on the ground floor, the largest of which has an en suite bathroom and another one also has a sofa bed. There’s also the ski room on this floor, as well as the garage, laundry, massage table and changing room. Two of the bedrooms can be arranged as twin rooms if you prefer.

There is access to a large sunny terrace from this floor with a barrel sauna, and the jacuzzi, where you can laze away the evening while you watch the sun set over the Aravis mountains!

There are two more bedrooms on the first floor, both of which have en suite shower rooms, and one of which can be arranged as a twin room. The beautifully appointed living room is also on this floor - there’s a well-equipped kitchen wherte you will find everything you need (and more: food processor, pancake/raclette/fondu sets...) to prepare delicious meals to share around the table big enough for everyone. Cosy seating is arranged around an open fire and the television, but you might prefer to spend the evenings with a glass of vin chaud on the balcony.

Another flight of stairs takes you to a mezzanine floor with the sixth bedroom - an en suite double - and a television and games room. There’s also a library and office space up here, which overlook the living area below.

The garden is fairly flat and safe for children with  great outdoor games ( play house, children's slide...) - if you are feeling brave in the winter you could follow your sauna with a roll in the snow!

This 5 star chalet has been beautifully decorated throughout, with slate greys, warm wood and huge picture windows making for a light and airy ambience. The owners are proud to comply with the "Cyclists Welcome" offiicial label requirements.

About the area ...

When you stay at Chalet Alyssum, you're less than 1km from the pistes and just a short walk from the ski bus stop.

The bus, which also serves La Clusaz, runs every 15 minutes between Chinaillon and Le Grand Bornand, and is free to use with your Aravis ski pass. This pass covers more than 220km of pristine pistes, in the resorts of Le Grand Bornand, La Clusaz and Manigod, so there's plenty of challenge for skiers and boarders of all abilities. There are also plenty of cross-country trails.

Non-skiers won't be bored either - try hiking or snowshoeing, paragliding, hot-air ballooning, ice-skating or ice-climbing. Le Grand Bornand boasts the Famille Plus mark, ensuring that ithere is always plenty of entertainment and activities for even the youngest visitors.

In the summer, a network of walking and biking trails criss-cross the slopes, and you can pick up a route map for either at the tourist office. Le Grand Bornand has a beautiful nine-hole golf course with a great driving range, and on those very hot days, why not head for the fantastic swimming pool complex, with a restaurant and grassy areas for picnics.

If you’re looking for something a little more challenging, there’s a climbing school, via ferrata routes, a tree-top adventure park, canyoning, white-water rafting and paragliding all nearby.

August sees the international children’s festival - Au Bonheur des Mômes - in Le Grand Bornand, a week of magic shows, circus acts, theatre, games and workshops, with a grand firework finale. It’s always hugely popular, so make sure you book early to guarantee a holiday you’ll never forget!
